Darksiders: Warmastered Edition

A hack and slash action adventure video game with about equal time devoted to combat and puzzle-solving/platforming developed by Vigil Games and published by THQ. This game is based on the book of Revelations in the Bible. It took the concepts of four horseman’s and created their own mythology on them.

 

Summary:

Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, WAR one of the Four legendary Horsemen of the Apocalypse. A powerful warrior with a strong sense of honor who will stop at nothing to gain revenge for being betrayed. Where his sole duty is to be summoned to the Earth once the final battle of Armageddon begins. He is not aligned to Heaven or Hell but instead serves to bring order by the rule of The Charred Council, whose purpose is to uphold the balance between the two forces. He maintains a strict code of honor and will battle any obstacle in his way.

Earth is now a desolate wasteland, barely resembling it’s former shape. Humankind has long crumbled due to the Destroyer’s army of demons.

 

Gameplay:

The player takes place of War the main protagonist of the story, along with his steed, Ruin in a third person perspective. Action takes place both underground where puzzles play a large role, and above ground in which free roaming is allowed. The world is divided into separate locations with many areas initially inaccessible until later in the game. The center of the world, The Scalding Gallow, acts as a hub where War is given new objectives and paths to unlock new areas, many of which require the use of newly gained abilities to progress. The players have limited use of two-handed signature sword  Chaoseater, he will eventually obtain other weapons throughout the course of the game. He also has a Scythe, which he uses as his other main offensive weapon.

Weapons have different combinations of attack that can be obtained throughout the game. Along with combos, players are encouraged to use countering moves, blocks, and swift dodging. Projectile weapons such as a revolver and a boomerang-style throwing blade can also be used. Objects littered throughout the environment can also be used as weapons and projectiles. At a later point in the game, War gains the ability to summon a horse that provides faster movement and increased attack power. Along with weapon based attacks War can also use an array of magic-based attacks, known as Wrath powers, that are both offensive and defensive in nature. The amount of Wrath powers available are determined through the Wrath meter. War’s Chaos Form: which transforms him into a large, fiery and extremely resistant entity can be activated once War’s Chaos meter is filled. The powers and horse which War must regain play an important role in the game as they enable him to access areas of the world which would otherwise be closed to him. A wrath meter fills up as War fights and gives access to powered-up and special moves. War can also use special fatalities. For instance, War can jump from demonic bat to demonic bat, killing each one without touching the ground. War will also perform more stylized fatalities on bosses and mid-bosses without the need for the derivative quick time events. The combat centers primarily on powerful combos and specialty fatalities.

Gear items are featured equipment which War needs in order to open new areas within the large open hubs.

New equipment can also be purchased by selling souls collected by War’s Soul Harvest ability to a Soul Trader Demon, Vulgrim. This demon will trade souls and artifacts, the only applicable currency in a post-human world, for new abilities, weapons and armor. Weapons can also be customized by collecting upgrades throughout the game. These upgrades can be equipped and swapped between War’s arsenal of weapons. War also changes in appearance, from his red, blue, and black, to a more bad-ass gray and black with red-eyes. Health and Wrath capacity can also be increased by collected containers scattered throughout the world, defeating main bosses, and from Vulgrim.

 

Verdict:

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a great remastered for one of the greatest games of the past generation. Ultimately, Darksiders is a solid action-adventure title. This game brings back Guerra into action on PC and current-gen consoles. Great visuals, awesome gameplay and a very interesting story. Surely, everyone’s dying to play this game so much!!

FallOut 3 (GOTY)

A post apocalyptic game set in an open world action RPG. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. A special videogame that is a gripping and expansive showcase of how much depth and excitement can be pack into one. It really stand on it’s own as a memorable and well-crafted videogame ever. Take in the sights and sounds of the vast Capital Wasteland and see the great monuments of the United States lying in post-apocalyptic ruin; you make the choices that define you and change the world. ✌

 

Plot:

The game takes place in the year 2277, 200 years after the Great War, on the East Coast of what used to be the United States, mostly in Washington, D.C., Southwest Maryland, Western Pennsylvania and Northeast Virginia. Before the Great War, the Resource Wars nearly crippled the world and brought riots to the streets, during which the United Nations disbanded, and an F.E.V. plague coupled with global terrorism rendered the United States paranoid of both real and imagined communist plots. Canada was annexed by the United States in order to help the U.S. war effort against the Chinese in Alaska. The fact that Canada had the plentiful resources of nearly untouched wilderness made America’s effort well worth the protection the U.S.A. promised to provide. The game’s scaled landscape includes war-ravaged variants of numerous real-life landmarks such as the White House, the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, Arlington National Cemetery and the Washington Monument, with a small number of settlements dotted around the Capital Wasteland that consist of descendants of survivors from the Great War, including one that surrounds an unexploded bomb, another consisting primarily of ghoul inhabitants, and another formed within the hulking remains of an aircraft carrier. While the city can be explored, much of the interior zones are cut off by giant rubble over many of the roads leading in, meaning that access can only be achieved by using the city’s former underground metro tunnels. It’s a world that is both fantastic and somehow believable. And it is one that’s exciting to explore.

 

GAMEPLAY:

The gameplay features include real-time combat and first- or third-person perspective, The players have the option to switch between this and an “over-the-shoulder” third-person perspective at any time after the initial stages of the game.

For 19 years of their life from 2258 to 2277, the player character grows up within the confines of Vault 101 alongside their father James, a doctor and scientist who assists in the Vault’s clinic. And from this point you play as the Vault Dweller, a blank slate for you to write your story on. The game begins with your birth and then quickly moves through childhood with snapshots of pivotal events, such as the day you get your Pip-Boy 3000. It’s a cleverly veiled character creation and tutorial sequence that sets the backdrop of the story. You live in Vault 101, a bunker designed to keep its occupants alive through the nuclear war that ravaged the surface. However, this vault didn’t reopen when the war finished and as the opening cinematic informs you, it is here you will die because nobody ever enters or leaves Vault 101.

The first part of the game is Character creation where you do this by steps, first you will set up your appearance along with what race and gender you like of what your character is, and the name you want. Next, you customize your character’s primary attributes via the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system – Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck – which is retained in Fallout 3, and determines the base level of the Skills the character has. As your character progresses through the game, experience points (XP) are earned from accomplishing various actions, such as completing a quest, killing an enemy and etc. A new level will be granted upon reaching the necessary amount of XP and upon granting a new level players  will have the ability to allocate points to the various Skills available and thus improve upon them, making them more effective; for instance, a higher lock-picking skill allows the player to be able to tackle more difficult locks on doors and containers, while a higher medicine skill increases the amount of health recovered with Stimpaks. Additional improvements to Skill levels can be made by finding Skill books, which confer a permanent boost to levels, while players can search for and find a series of 20 bobbleheads that confer a bonus to these and primary attributes.

Water and food can heal you, but almost everything has been poisoned by radiation. You’ll have to use medicine to manage the levels of radiation you take in from eating, drinking or wandering into hot zones, creating an unending give and take that underscores the struggle for survival that everyone you meet faces. All weapons and apparel found, regardless of whether they are a makeshift-weapon such as a lead pipe, or a gun, degrade over time the more they are used, and thus become less effective. To ensure weapons and apparel are working effectively, such items require constant maintenance and repairs which can be done in one of two ways. The first method is find certain vendors that repair items, though how much they can repair an item depends on their skill level, while the cost of the repairs depends upon the item itself. And the second method is for players to find a second of the same item that needs repairs (or a comparable item), and salvaging parts from it for the repair, though how much they can do depends on their character’s own skill level in repairs. Thus, you can create your own weapon by doing so you must use a workbench, possess either the necessary schematics or the right Perk, and scavenge for the items needed to make them.

The Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S.) is a new element in the Fallout series and plays an important part in combat within this game a hybrid between time turn-based and real time combat using the system costs action points (AP), the amount of which depends on the weapon being used and thus limiting the actions of the player’s combat during a turn. Furthermore, ranged weapons are capable of hitting limbs, while melee weapons focus on the target in whole when using V.A.T.S. Any player of this game will have a companion a (NPC) who can assist your player during combats but it depends on who they have encountered that can join them; it is possible to not encounter all depending on how the game is played. One unique companion the player can have, that can allow a third to join without issue, is a dog named Dogmeat, who can be killed during the game if the player misuses him or places him in a severely dangerous situation.

VERDICT:

This is the RPG I spent the most time with and I don’t regret it. You’d be depriving yourself of one of the coolest combat systems to ever grace an RPG. This game is quite eye and at the same time heart catching. I am very happy and satisfied!!

Mx vs. ATV Reflex

An off-road racing video game developed by Rainbow Studios and published by THQ. This is the third game of Mx vs. ATV series. Reflex was built from  the ground up featuring a new control scheme and physics engine where it utilizes both analog sticks. The left controls the handle bar and while the right controls the rider’s body movements.

Reflex is a real time terrain deformation where it allows any of the different vehicles to literally carve into earth crusting bumps as they actually do in real life. So grip tight, think fast and hang on to your ride as you passionately do your death-defying tricks and high-flying freestyle action. Hone your skills through this ever changing havoc-laden environment with constant changes every route. Fight off and dig up the tracks to force the competition to carve for new race lines and LEAVE your mark as a champion.

 

Gameplay:

The game allows the players to race motocross and super cross on motocross bikes or ATV’s. This game also includes events such as Omni cross, free rides, and free style motocross. Players must think fast and wrestle on to their rides from the merge of catastrophe, lean in to take higher jumps and tighter turns to get more points. Blaze through dessert dunes when the terrain gets altered in every turn you take, slash on every swampy everglades and rushing through raging rivers is what players must go through in order to win. Rave up and keep going!

This game has online mode which consists of public and private rooms. These rooms are dedicated to specific event types and can host up to 12 players at a single time. Motocard is where players keep their records from their progress which earns them experience points through online events and goes directly through their levels. The game offers 48 achievements each of which is worth from 5 to 100 points. Players must take note of that lists it may be a big help in gaining more points. Whatever route you take, you must pull off that sickest tricks you got and show it to the world. Impress the judges, increase your score and emerge victorious on MotoFx freestyle.

A very solid off-road experience indeed! It shame to know how others feel it weak. Well for me this is one hell of a game! The physics engine is really incredible and the feeling of flying through the air doing those death-defying stunts really makes me happy. I dare everyone to play this game. Superb!!!!! 👍
